Glossary

Glossary

This glossary provides definitions and explanations for common terms and concepts used in Felina Protocol and the broader decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

A

Address

A unique identifier assigned to each wallet, used to send and receive cryptocurrency.

Approval

An on-chain transaction that grants a smart contract the permission to access a specified amount of tokens.

B

Blockchain

A decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across a network of computers.

C

Confirmation

The process by which a transaction is verified and added to a blockchain.

D

Decentralized Application (dApp)

An application that runs on a decentralized network, such as a blockchain, rather than a centralized server.

DeFi (Decentralized Finance)

A financial system built on blockchain technology that aims to provide traditional financial services without intermediaries.

E

Ethereum

A decentralized blockchain platform that enables smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps).

F

Fee

The amount paid to process a transaction on the blockchain, often referred to as gas in Ethereum.

G

Gas

A unit of measurement for the computational work required to process transactions and execute smart contracts on the Ethereum network.

Gas Price

The amount of Ether (ETH) a user is willing to pay per unit of gas to have their transaction processed by the network.

N

Nonce

A unique number used once in a cryptographic communication, often used to prevent replay attacks in transactions.

P

Permit

An off-chain signed message that grants a smart contract permission to access tokens. Unlike approvals, permits do not require an immediate on-chain transaction.

Private Key

A secret key that allows access to and control over cryptocurrency in a wallet. It should be kept secure and never shared.

R

Revocation

The process of withdrawing previously granted permissions, preventing a smart contract from accessing or managing tokens.

S

Smart Contract

A self-executing contract with the terms of the agreement directly written into code, running on a blockchain.

T

Token

A digital asset issued on a blockchain, representing ownership or access rights.

Transaction

An action that transfers cryptocurrency from one address to another or interacts with a smart contract.

U

User Interface (UI)

The interface through which a user interacts with an application, in this case, Felina Protocol.

W

Wallet

A digital tool used to store, send, and receive cryptocurrency. Wallets can be software-based (hot wallets) or hardware-based (cold wallets).

WalletConnect

A protocol that allows mobile wallets to connect to decentralized applications (dApps) by scanning a QR code.

By familiarizing yourself with these terms, you can better understand the functionalities and processes within Felina Protocol and the DeFi ecosystem.
